8th Annual Russian Offshore Conference in Moscow – Focus on the Arctic

300+ senior representatives from more than 15 countries gathered in Moscow to discuss how to best capitalise on Russian offshore production. Steffen Weber, the Secretary General of the Arctic Forum Foundation was one of the speakers at the conference together with several leading industry speakers from BP, Total, Gazprom Dobycha Shelf and Sovkomflot amongst many others.  Read more…

The third SAO meeting under the Swedish Chairmanship took place immediately following the NGO Forum on the Arctic Oil and Gas industry and the EU at the “Folkets Hus” in Haparanda – a border town rich in symbolism as a space of cooperation. Arctic Forum Foundation’s Secretary General, Steffen Weber, participated as an observer as those in attendance were informed of the suspension of RAIPON by the Russian government; discussion focused on the potential ramifications of that event (RAIPON has since been re-instated following some amendments to their charter).  Read more…

The ARCTIS Online Database (Arctic Resources & Transportation Information System) is a new searchable online database on shipping in Arctic waters, transportation infrastructure, mineral and energy resources, and innovative logistics solutions in the Arctic. The database is developed by the Centre for High North Logistics (CHNL) in North Norway. Read more…

The International Conference “Cooperation in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region in the field of education and research as a resource for regional development” took place in the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Arkhangelsk on November 27-29, 2012. The Conference was organized by cooperating twin-universities NArFU and the University of Tromsø under their co-chairmanship in the BEAC Joint Working Group on Education and Science (JWGER BEAC). Meeting on the role of the EU in Arctic Research in the European Parliament – Conclusions of the Participants of the Policy-Science-Interface Seminar

The EU Arctic Forum together with the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), the International Arctic Social Science Association (IASSA), and the University of the Arctic (Uarctic) organized a meeting in Brussels on the role of the EU in research and development in the Arctic. The meeting organized in cooperation with the most important Arctic research umbrella organisations focussed on the need for an EU Policy Science Interface for the Arctic. Read more…
