EU Arctic Forum’s Secretary General Steffen Weber addresses leading scientists and key industry players at the 7th Annual Conference “Russia Offshore 2012”

The 7th Annual “Russia Offshore 2012” conference and exhibition took place in Moscow on 26 – 28 March 2012, attracting all the key operators working on the Russian continental shelf, government representatives, scientist, investors and leading technology providers. Steffen Weber of the EU Arctic Forum addressed the audience and discussed European interests and contributions. Following the debate he was interviewed by for the Spotlight program of the News Station “Russia Today.”

EU Arctic Forum participates at the biggest Polar Conference, the International Polar Year: From knowledge to Action, April 2012, in Montreal

This exceptional conference gathered over 2,500 Arctic and Antarctic researchers, policy- and business- decision-makers, stakeholders from academia, industry, non-government, education, Arctic communities and indigenous peoples. The intent of the conference was to contribute to the translation of polar scientific findings into an evidence-based agenda for action that would influence global decisions, policies and outcomes. Indeed, informing decision makers is the core notion of the EU Arctic Forum, as a platform to improve synergies in decision-making related to Arctic issues. Jokkmokk Winter Conference 2012: “Transition: from Knowing to Implementing – How to cope with (Climate) Change?”

The Fifth Annual Jokkmokk Winter Conference was held from January 30 – February 3rd by the Municipality of Jokkmokk, Sweden. This year’s conference brought together 250 young and senior researches, decision-makers as well as businesses and indigenous representatives from 25 different countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities that climate change have brought to the people of the North.
